John Yoak is a Senior Manager for True Partners Consulting based in Tampa, Florida. He has 14 years of broad state and local tax experience serving clients in the manufacturing, retail, service, technology, and biotechnology industries. Throughout his career, John has concentrated on matters related to sales and use tax, but he also has extensive experience handling matters related to corporate state income/franchise tax and other business activity taxes.
In his sales and use tax practice, John assists clients with matters related to compliance-related process improvement strategies, nexus and taxability studies, multi-jurisdictional tax planning, tax exposure mitigation strategies, and tax controversy. In his corporate income and franchise tax consulting practice, John assists clients with matters related to nexus and the constitutional limitations on state taxation, organizational structure and operational planning to develop optimal filing options for tax minimization purposes, tax opinions, tax exposure mitigation strategies, and tax controversy. John’s tax controversy practice includes all phases of client representation, including protests and administrative appeals, audit defense, and representing taxpayers before state and local taxing authorities.
John received his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Pittsburgh; his Master of Business Administration from the Stetson University School of Business Administration; his Juris Doctor from the Stetson University College of Law; and his Masters of Letters and Law (LL.M.) in Taxation from the Chapman University School of Law.
