Samantha Petersen is a Senior Manager in True Partners Consulting’s Unclaimed Property Practice. She has extensive experience in unclaimed property consulting, including the development of process improvement techniques, development of unclaimed property policies and procedures, performance of comprehensive diagnostic reviews, audit defense, the implementation of unclaimed property reporting systems, and training client personnel. She has over 11 years of public accounting and industry experience and prior to joining True Partners Consulting, held the position of Southwest Region Unclaimed Property Practice Leader for KPMG.
Prior to entering public accounting, Ms. Petersen worked for Federal Express Corporation in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was instrumental in the drafting and implementation of the Company’s unclaimed property policies and procedures. Additionally, she also holds the distinction as one of the first software licensees of the Tracker system to fully implement and integrate the software with a company’s existing ERP system. Other responsibilities while employed at Federal Express included the coordination of the annual unclaimed property reporting process, which included due diligence and report preparation.
Ms. Petersen is a recognized authority in the use and implementation of unclaimed property systems and has extensive experience in the development of formalized policies and procedures related to unclaimed property. She has represented Fortune 500 clients in the defense of unclaimed property audits, in the performance of comprehensive diagnostic reviews, development of process improvement techniques and identification of planning opportunities.
Ms. Petersen received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee, and is a member of the Unclaimed Property Holders Liaison Council. She has regularly spoken before trade and industry groups on the subject of unclaimed property, including the UPHLC (Unclaimed Holders’ Liaison Counsel), the APA (American Payroll Association), and the IMA (Institute of Management Accountants).
