Robert Clarke is a Manager in True Partners Consulting’s Tampa office and also serves as the Assistant General Counsel for the firm. He joined the firm in 2006 and has over six years experience in state and local taxation. He works with clients in the areas of income and franchise taxes, sales and use taxes, intangible personal property taxes, and documentary stamp taxes.
Mr. Clarke’s industry focus has been in the retail, utilities, healthcare, and manufacturing industries. Prior to joining True Partners Consulting, he spent three years in Deloitte Tax LLP’s Multistate Tax Services group, three years with a Florida law firm, and a year with the Economic Crimes Division in the Florida Attorney General’s Office.
Mr. Clarke has broad-based state tax experience, including corporate reorganizations and planning, audit defense/protests, sales tax compliance system implementations, and state tax refund filings. He has spoken at both industry and professional association seminars, including the Florida Bar Tax Section Annual Meeting, the Institute of Internal Auditors Conference, and the FICPA West Coast Chapter Seminar. In addition, he has had multiple articles published in the Florida Bar Tax Section Bulletin.
Mr. Clarke received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Davidson College, a Bachelor of Science degree in International Affairs from Florida State University, a Masters in Business Administration from Florida State University, and a Juris Doctor from the Florida State University College of Law with concentrations in taxation and business entities law. He is the current chairman of the Publications and Bulletins Committee of the Florida Bar State Tax Division and sits on the Executive Council of the Florida Bar Tax Section. He is also a member of the Florida Bar Tax Section, the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar, and the American Bar Association.
