Senior managers Lawrence Salus and John Bennecke are promoted to managing director level
CHICAGO – April 5, 2007 – True Partners Consulting LLC today announced that it has promoted two senior managers to managing directors in its Chicago headquarters: Lawrence P. Salus and John Bennecke.
“We’re delighted to be promoting Lawrence and John, both of whom have helped build the Chicago headquarters from the ground up and made significant contributions to the local market,” said Cary McMillan, chief executive officer of True Partners. “As the fastest-growing tax practice in the country, we are committed to fostering an environment that recognizes top talent to ensure we offer our customers the very best tax and business consulting services.”
As a federal and international tax consultant for 16 years, Salus, 42, specializes in tax planning, mergers and acquisitions and accounting for income taxes. In addition, he has experience with corporate and partnership tax compliance and representing clients in tax controversies before federal and state authorities.
Salus’ practice is focused on assisting clients with improving and automating tax provision processes, assessing and enhancing internal controls in tax processes to be consistent with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and advising clients on tax savings strategies. He is also a leader in assisting clients with the adoption and implementation of FIN 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes.
“It’s exciting to play an integral role in continuing to develop such a rapidly growing firm,” said Salus. “I look forward to building upon my accomplishments at True Partners and to helping further strengthen the unique culture and solid values proposition that have been established within the company’s first year.”
Prior to joining True Partners, Salus was the tax director for General Electric Railcar Leasing Services, a subsidiary of General Electric Capital. In addition, he held senior tax manager positions at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte & Touche USA LLP.
Salus received his Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University and Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Illinois Bar, American Bar Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
A tax professional with both public and industry accounting expertise, Bennecke, 40, has more than 15 years of experience specializing in tax compliance and consulting for large and mid-size multinational corporations, partnerships and individuals. He also provides counsel in the areas of tax due diligence, research and tax planning, and audit defense.
A member of the True Partners’ accounting periods and methods team, Bennecke is actively involved in firm-wide training and recruiting initiatives, and leads the company’s tax reporting and compliance service line.
“I’m pleased with the opportunity to further leverage my work in various areas of tax services to continue providing tailored solutions to clients,” said Bennecke. “Strong leadership has been a key component of the company’s success thus far, and it’s great to be part of the team that will keep True Partners moving forward.”
Previously, Bennecke was a senior manager with the Lead Tax Services practice of Deloitte Tax LLP in Chicago. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University, and his Master of Jurisprudence degree in Business Law with a taxation focus, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
