Mark Hellner joined TPC in February 2008 as a Managing Director and General Counsel.  He has 30 years of legal experience in both private practice and with the State of Illinois, where he served recently as General Counsel for the Illinois Department of Revenue.  He has a wide variety of corporate and litigation experience, including work in over thirty states.

Mr. Hellner received his Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois where he is an Adjunct Professor teaching a course in State and Local Tax.  He is a licensed attorney in Illinois, and by the U.S. Supreme Court, several Federal District Courts and the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal.  He has been actively involved with the Illinois State Bar Association where he served three terms on its Assembly and chaired several of its committees, including Supreme Court Rules, Judicial Evaluation and the Civil Practice Section Council.  He has been a frequent speaker and author for a wide variety of CLE programs including the Georgetown University State and Local Tax Conference, the NYU State and Local Tax Conference and the National Multi-state Tax Symposium in Florida.
